Silver State Baptist Youth Camp
A Place With a Special Emphasis
Silver State Baptist Youth Camp was born out of a heart for the lives and souls of American youth. It was founded as an outreach ministry to teenagers. Since its inception, Silver State has influenced the lives of literally thousands of young people as well as adults with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thousands have made professions of faith; many have surrendered to Christian service; and countless have dedicated their lives to Christ.
The influence of Silver State can be felt around the world. Pastors and missionaries who made their decisions to follow Christ on the campground can be found on every continent. Only God knows the extent to which lives have been changed as a result of the ministry of Silver State. Our emphasis is on the Word of God.
A Place With a Heart For Pastors and Their Wives
Ministers are special people at Silver State. Any pastor and his wife stay free of charge when bringing a group to camp. They are encouraged to relax and spend quality time with their church members. It is the desire of the Silver State staff to serve God's special servants.
A Place With a Unique History
The First Baptist Church of Englewood, Colorado, led by pastor Harvey H. Springer, purchased the 160-acre piece of property in the spring of 1945 from an elderly homesteader. The old homesteader threw in two cows, one horse, four pigs, and 22 chickens. The property also included a small ranch house.
Throughout its history, Silver State has undergone many physical changes. The first camps were held in tents, and only a handful of people were able to attend. However, with the construction of dormitory facilities, a dining hall, a tabernacle, and several other buildings, the present facilities are able to accommodate over 400 people.
